ACL two bundles reconstruction.

The anterior cruciate ligament is made of two bundles: antero-median (in red) and postero-lateral (in green).

Till recently, only the antero-medial one was reconstructed.

The postero-lateral bundle is not always torn during injury.

Now your surgeon may arthroscopically reconstruct it if necessary.

AM : anteromedial acl bundle

PL: posterolateral acl bundle

PCL : posterior cruciate ligament

Lat men : lateral meniscus

Arthroscopic vue of a torn acl. The instrument points to the intact pcl bundle
The opening of the femoral AM tunnel. Both bundles (AM and PL) are torn.
AM and PL grafts inserted.
Both femoral tunnels have been drilled.
